Last Day of First Grade

My sweet, little baby Ruesie isn't a first grader anymore!
As of what, a week and a half ago?
I'm slow.
And yet, she is growing up TOO fast.

First Day

Maintaining my streak of NOT being on top of things, we took the picture of LaRue on her last day after school, so if she looks a little disheveled, that's why.
I canNOT believe she is going into second grade in September, how did this happen!?

She's at it Again!

LaRue lost her second tooth last night!
Her tooth was SO loose, and I asked her if I could wiggle it.
I had barely wiggled it, and it came right out.
We were both pretty surprised!

It happened right before she went to bed, and then she was trying to take it downstairs for some reason and accidentally dropped it. We looked and looked for it, but no luck.
So we had to scurry around and write a note to the tooth fairy, explaining that we accidentally lost the tooth somewhere by the stairs, and could she please use her tools to find it?
LaRue also kept asking if the tooth fairy is real, because some kids at school had told her that it was just your parents.
That made me sad. I always feel like she's growing up too fast, but I'm not determined that she should believe in the tooth fairy. The thing is, she was asking right in front of Matilda, and I didn't want to ruin it for Matilda before she even loses her first tooth, so we just kind of said yes, that we believed she was real. And then I felt bad for lying. But is it wrong to want to preserve her innocence and sense of wonder? I say no.

A Day at the Coast

We spent a day at the coast over the weekend so that I could run in the Newport Marathon.
I survived it, yay!

We actually went kind of separately so I could concentrate on the running.
My friend Salli came with me, and Jordan, Rand and Joyce went together and brought the girls with them.

LaRue took lots of pictures from the backseat, this being one of my favorites

They got to stay in a motel and eat chips.

They spent some time at the beach.

And they climbed on rocks.

They also got to go an aquatic center and see an octopus, and they stopped at Mo's for a delicious lunch.
I'm so glad that they got to have some fun this weekend!
HUGE thanks to Rand and Joyce for coming out to cheer me on, and making this adventure possible for these girls!

Matilda is Cute

I was scrolling through some of the pictures on my phone, and came across a couple of pictures of Tillie that I just thought were super cute, so of course I had to share because I'm one of those moms.

One of Rues soccer teammates brought their pet guinea pigs to one of the games, and Matilda was so thrilled that she got to hold one on her lap and pet it.
It might not look like it, but she really was properly gentle.

Finally, her own monkey hat made just for her!
Yep, this was only taken about two weeks ago.

I wanted to take a picture of her wearing this awesome headband that she'd put on all by herself, and she agreed, but only if I let her pose with a grape. I don't know why.
We just love this silly little goose!

They're So Cute When They Sleep!

That's what I was thinking to myself when I went to check on Adelaide during nap time.
But, what ho? Her bed was empty!
Where could she be?
Oh, the closet!
Obviously.
Sleeping quite soundly.
Still pretty cute.

Soccer is Over!!!

If you heard shouts of joy yesterday, and you weren't sure where they were coming from, it was probably me.
I "coached" LaRues soccer team this season because with about a week and a half until the first game, we got about three emails telling us who would be on our team, but that we still didn't have a coach, so I went ahead and volunteered.
I HATED it at first, the kids were great, it was just my Social Anxiety Disorder, but it didn't end up being as horrific as I had thought it would be. We had a couple of dads on the team who really stepped up and ran the practices and the games with (and sometimes instead of) me, and I ended up feeling like we hit a comfortable balance with the families who stuck it out (we did lose two players a couple of weeks in, oops.)
But I'm still really glad it's over, and to celebrate, here are approximately 100 pictures from yesterday:
Ruesie during her last game, she scored a goal earlier in the season, yay!

The Blue Camels!
The team name is kind of a long story.

LaRue was so happy to get her medal.
Isn't she just the prettiest little thing?

Even Adelaide had a little fun!

Tillie in action!

She shoots, she scores!
Just kidding, this was during the pre-game warm up.
She did get a goal earlier this season though.
Truth be told, both of the girls teams lost by like, a WHOLE lot yesterday.
That's okay though, we're just there to have some fun!

Let's pay close attention to Matildas arms in the next three pictures, shall we?
One

Two

Three
When I asked her what she was doing with her arms, she told me that she was just riding her horse.
I had suspected as much, she wasn't so much running and playing soccer, as she was galloping and pretending to ride.
It wasn't all that helpful to the rest of the team, but I think she had a good time.

Kicking off.

Getting her trophy from her coach.

It's okay to admit that you're jealous of my picture taking skillz.
Everybody is.

The End.

Obsessed

Not just obsessed - COMPLETELY obsessed.
Have you watched Downton Abbey yet?
You should.
For whatever reason, I just can't get enough of it right now.
Season two can't come out quickly enough!

You can watch it instantly if you have Netflix, just sayin'.

In other notable news, I'm sure you all know this by now, and I am COMPLETELY remiss for not shouting it from the rooftops earlier, but:

JORDAN PASSED HIS NCLEX!!!!!

GOOD JOB, JORDAN!!!!!

Sometimes as I'm going throughout my day, I pass by our calendar and see the day that has Jordan NCLEX written on it, and I get all giddy inside and think 'He already took that, he already PASSED that!'
Huzzah!
Next hurdle will be actually getting hired as an LPN, but I'm SO proud of him for passing that test!

Anything else going on with us? It's been pretty quiet around the old blog for a while.
I've been "coaching" LaRues soccer team, and the last game is this Saturday.
Can I get a hallelujah?
Hallelujah!
